Hey everybody! We hit the road again on September 14th and have had an amazing trip so far. Lisa spent the first few days in NYC celebrating sister Jen's bday while I got to hang out with Bobby M and Rich G in New Jersey. We drink different (aka better) beers than we did 35 years ago, and hanging with these lifelong friends never gets old :-)

Next stop was Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Our friend Bruce M told us about this charming place 10 years ago, and this is now our 3rd time there. Lisa did a little boutique shopping...

And then we had a tasty meal at one of our favorite (in the whole wide world) restaurants.

We always find time for MacDuff to play :-)

From New Hampshire we headed up into Maine, including a night in the Easternmost spot in the US, a tiny fishing town called Lubec.

Next up, we ventured into Canada for our first visit to the province of New Brunswick. As you know, I love me some Canada and hitting the Maritimes in the early fall has been fantastic. Everything is still open but nothing is crowded. We spent the first few nights at Fundy National Park and went on some great hikes.

And this is what post-hikes looked like. Happy people with tasty beverages...

...and a sweet and sleepy pup.

After Fundy, we traveled north into Nova Scotia, and have been in Cape Breton Highlands National Park for the past 5 days. This is how I felt about going on a great hike on my 54th bday:

This place is rather magical. Amazing spots where freshwater rivers run into the sea.

The trusty MacDuff recommends it for dogs and hoomans too!

And the hits just keep on coming. Up next is Five Islands Provincial Park and then a visit with great friends Megan and Bradley who recently moved from Charlottesville to Halifax. Stay tuned!
