Summer 2023 Adventure - First 3 Weeks

The trusty MacDuff and I left Charlottesville on May 19 and gradually made our way through Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, and North Dakota before crossing into Manitoba. We headed west across Canada through Saskatchewan and into Alberta, where the lovely Lisa met us in Calgary for a magical week exploring the Canadian Rockies. Here are some highlights!

MacDuff likes to stop for a beer after long driving days. I usually join him. This shot is at Schmohz Brewery in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Sometimes he's just too wiped out and needs a good snooze, this one after a hike at Leelanau State Park in Michigan.

3 days into the trip we had to make an unexpected detour to Jackson Center, Ohio, aka the Mothership of Airstreams. Had a recurring problem with the trailer but they were great about fixing it. Stayed overnight, and this was our view. Not bad for having your vehicle in the shop.

We really love Fargo, North Dakota. Don't think about the movie or the TV series. It's a great little college town, home of North Dakota State University. And EVERYONE is SO NICE. MacDuff is very popular the the Fargo Brewing Company.

We hike a lot. I tell him jokes. He especially likes the "3 chipmunks walk into a bar" one. This was on a hike in Riding Mountain National Park in Manitoba.

Sometimes he is majestic. Like in this shot from Grasslands National Park in Saskatchewan.

Sometimes he is just plain wiped out from hiking and biking.

He especially likes it when Lisa joins us :-)

As do I.

The hikes in Alberta (near Jasper) and British Columbia (Mount Robson, Valemount) are spectacular.

And the chilling after hikes is also pretty fantastic.

MacDuff finds things he enjoys everywhere we go.

It really is magical here. We love it and will keep coming back here every summer to explore more and more and more.

Lisa flew back home from Calgary today (June 9th) and it will just be MacDuff and me until I meet back up with Lisa, Landon, and Aunt Jen in the SF Bay Area in 4 weeks, and then joined by Gabriel and Phoebe in Ojai, California. Until then, lots more Canada for the pup and me. Off to Sparwood, Fernie, Golden, Revelstoke, Nairn Falls, and Lake Alice next. More pix to come!
