WanderStuff October 1 to October 17, 2023!

Hey family and friends! The first half of October has been lovely. Picking up where we left off, Lisa, MacDuff and I traveled from Cape Breton to Five Islands Provincial Park, also in Nova Scotia. We have set up in some gorgeous places in the past 3 years of Airstreaming and this one is the most beautiful yet.

Hard to beat a solo stove fire during a sunset overlooking this view:

I don't generally live my life looking in the rear view mirror, but I do make the occasional exception...

After Five Islands, we moved on to Halifax where we got to spend 3 fantastic days with Megan and Bradley!

It was great to see their new habitat. Halifax has a really nice vibe which I'll call "low-key authentic charm," and you are always a stone's throw away from a beautiful place to hike and admire the scenery. Lisa and MacDuff are pretty good at that.

Lisa flew home from Halifax, and MacDuff and I scouted out a couple of additional places in Nova Scotia. When I'm not with Lisa I like to explore places I think she and I might return on a future trip, and Nova Scotia is chock full of them. Lunenberg is a too-charming-for-words UNESCO heritage site about an hour south of Halifax. Here's a shot of where we set up the Airstream for the night, the Lightship Brewery, with an incredible view of the city.

And this is autumn showing off a little bit in Kejimkujik National Park:

After bidding farewell to Nova Scotia, I headed back into New England. Sometimes people ask if I get lonely when traveling without Lisa. Well I do miss her a lot, but how can I be lonely when I get to see wonderful friends like Zola (and Rick!) in Boston?!? Z&R own the Arden Art Gallery on Newbury Street, and on days off Zola rows crew along the shores of Gloucester. Pretty dang cool.

And speaking of pretty dang cool...next up I visited Maurice in Troy, NY where he is a professor of Game Design at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Yes, he makes his living teaching people how to design games. And he designs his own games. And he writes books about designing games. That is what I call winning.

He also happens to be a world-class dad. Here's a shot of "Moz" with his lovely family, Richa (mom, pediatrician, real estate investor, and cook extraordinaire!), Myra (7), and Merlin (2).

I'm now on my way west, where I'll eventually meet back up with Lisa in Denver. Along the way I checked out a couple of places I've always wanted to see:

Okay, you're right, I did doctor the Niagara Falls photos a bit since it was a really gray afternoon when I visited, but I like the way they came out :-)

And next up...Long Live Ro(ck)! The R&R Hall of Fame in Cleveland is pretty fantastic. I was only there for 3 hours but could have stayed for 3 days.

Next up, 4 days with Sam and Kristin in Chicago, and hopefully a Michael & Taya sighting while I'm in town...and then hustling across the breadbasket states to post up for 2 weeks in Colorado for some late season hiking (hopefully) before the snow begins to fall.

And on I go, looking to the future while appreciating the past.

Until next time...sending everyone hugs, kisses, high fives, fist bumps, elbow taps, or whatever you prefer :-)
